Any stage, film or theatrical production in New South Wales who wish to utilise a firearm during filming must engage in a professional and licensed armourer to oversee the supervision, safe handling and safety requirements whilst the weapon is being used on set.
In NSW there are strict restrictions and laws which govern what constitutes a firearm, and it's especially important to have a clear understanding of what your responsibilities are a film maker. An imitation firearm is defined in section 4D of the of the Firearms Act 1996 (the Act) as an object that, regardless of its colour, weight or composition or the presence or absence of any moveable parts, substantially duplicates in appearance a firearm but that is not a firearm. It is important to recognise that being naive about current legislation will not save you from possible criminal prosecution when it comes to firearms and their usage on a production set. It is always better to be safe than sorry!
Our representatives have extensive knowledge of current legislation and requirements when it comes to film production shoots with firearms and are always happy to answer any general questions or concerns you may have about film weaponry.
Below you will find a comprehensive list of weapons we currently have in our arsenal which are ready for immediate usage on film productions today, however we also have partnerships with direct importers in Sydney which allows us to seek a whole range of weapons dating back to the 1800’s and modern weapons in use today – so if you need a specific piece or have your mind set in stone about a certain weapon style, contact us today to see what we can do for you.
